What Size Truck Do I Need for a House Move?

A general rule of thumb by home size — useful for budgeting, though we always confirm the actual size from your details before we quote.

These are general industry rules of thumb, not a fixed price list — every home has more or less furniture than the "typical" version of it, which is exactly why we confirm details before sending a quote rather than guessing from square meterage alone.

Studio or 1-bedroom apartment

Usually the smallest end of the scale: a smaller truck and a compact crew are typically enough, assuming standard furniture volumes and reasonable building access (lifts, no unusually long carries).

2-bedroom apartment or small house

The most common move size. Typically needs a mid-size truck and a slightly larger crew than a 1-bedroom, mainly to keep the day moving at a reasonable pace rather than because the volume is dramatically bigger.

3-bedroom house

This is where garages, garden furniture and general accumulated household volume start to matter more than the bedroom count itself. A larger truck and crew are the norm, and it's worth flagging anything unusual (a piano, a large fridge, bulky furniture) upfront.

4+ bedroom house or full office move

Usually needs either a larger single truck or two trips, plus a bigger crew to keep the day realistic. Office moves in particular benefit from telling us about anything single-item-heavy — server racks, safes, boardroom tables — since those change the crew and equipment needed more than general box count does.

Why we still ask for details

Two "3-bedroom houses" can have very different volumes depending on how long the family's lived there and how much storage they've filled. Rather than lock in a truck size from the bedroom count alone, we ask a few quick questions — or take photos — so the crew that arrives is actually the right size for your specific move.

Our promise: the quote we send is the price you pay. If the job turns out bigger or smaller once we're there, we agree any difference with you before we carry on — never after.
